Governor Sindh to return anti-NAB Sindh Ordinance sans assent today



  • All contents of this bill are against public perceptions, national interest;
  • Says this type of controversial activities should be avoided by provinces;
  • Trying all efforts to attract foreign investors to invest in Karachi: Zubair
  • Panama Case is brutal and the Joint Investigation Team is also so brutal;

KARACHI: Mohammad Zubair Umar, Governor Sindh has said that he has gone through all contents of bill titled 'National Accountability Ordinance 1999 Sindh Repeal Bill-2017'; passed by the Sindh Assembly and received by him for approval. 
He said all the contents of this bill are against the public perceptions and national interest and he will be returning this bill without approval on Monday July 10, 2017 (today) with his note carrying objections. The Governor Sindh disclosed this in an exclusive interview with "The Financial Daily" (Detailed interview will be published soon).
Zubair said after signing the Charter of Democracy by Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in 2006, Pakistani politics got strength and entered maturity level. After the 18th Amendment, the 1973 Constitution reflecting its original shape. 
He said the 7th NFC Award for provinces was another milestone for provinces but the recent bill 'National Accountability Ordinance 1999 Sindh Repeal Bill-2017'; presented in Sindh Assembly is an act of over-stepping by Sindh Assembly. This type of controversial activities should be avoided by provinces, he added.
Governor Said development of Karachi Infrastructure is his first Priority; Karachi is among the most populated cities of the world. Well-developed Karachi means that well-developed Pakistan. He said he will be trying to attract foreign investors to invest in Karachi and promoting private sector to improve economy of Karachi. He said through renewals of economic activities and foreign investments in Karachi lakhs of jobs will be creating and economy of this province will be strengthened. He said Alhamdollilah, law and order situation has been tremendously improved after 2013 in PML (N) era. 
He said PML (N) Government focuses its attention to maintain and improve law & order situation, especially in Karachi as a result of which economic activities were revived in the capital of Sindh. He said he also visited various cities of interior Sindh to resolve their minor issues.
Zubair said peoples of Karachi were ignored by PML (N) because the Federal Government of PML (N) had given chance to PPP to serve the people of Sindh but they failed to serve them. He said people of Karachi are still confused that who will pick the garbage from their streets. The Governor said people of Karachi will be taking their revenge from Sindh rulers in the next elections 2018.
About Panama Case, the Governor Sindh opined that it has a positive thing that among the above 50 Muslim countries there is no examples that rulers are being faced accountability. He said negative thing is that rules of game have been changed this time against Nawaz family but they are facing all process while nonresident Pakistanis are not answerable as per law. 
Zubair said the Panama Case is another historical case after ZA Bhutto case but in the current case no appealing rights are given to Nawaz family. He said this case is brutal while JIT is also so brutal.
Zubair said how they investigated Mark Segal, Aijaz, Pervez Musharraf and Arslan Iftikhar previously, why they are not sending questionnaire form to the concerned this time, why they have changed rule of the game this time? He said can they investigate ex-Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz like this. Zubair said previously Yousuf Raza Gilani was victimized and this was not good for democracy. Every institution should have limitations and act according to prevailing laws.
