Afghanistan should focus on its internal affairs instead of blaming us: Army

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army on Tuesday denounced the terrorist act in Kabul which claimed the lives of 150 people and injured many others.
The armed forces also said that Afghanistan should focus on its internal issues rather than blame Pakistan. "Instead of blaming Pakistan, Afghanistan should look inward and identify the real issues," said a statement released by ISPR after the meeting.
A Special Corps Commanders' Conference was held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa in the chair. Matters pertaining to regional security in the aftermath of the Kabul bombing were discussed.
According to the ISPR, Pakistan Army stood with the people and army of Afghanistan against terrorism.
The forum reviewed regional security environment in the backdrop of recent terrorist incidents in Afghanistan and vowed to continue its support and cooperation with Afghanistan in fight against terrorism and militancy.
It took exception to the unwarranted accusations and threats against Pakistan in the aftermath of Kabul blast.
The forum concluded that instead of blaming Pakistan, Afghanistan needs to look inward and identify the real issues.
While reaffirming continued support to regional peace and stability, the conference reiterated Pak Army's resolve to defend the motherland against all types of threat.
After the bombing, Afghanistan blamed Pakistan for having a hand in the deadly attack. The Corps Commanders declared such allegations as unjustified.
The blast was the latest in a long line of attacks in Kabul. The province surrounding the capital had the highest number of casualties in the first three months of 2017 thanks to multiple attacks in the city, with civilians bearing the brunt of the violence. - NNI
