3rd Meeting of World Columnist Club (WCC)

Third meeting of World Columnist Club (WCC) was held in Karachi during the reported week. The meeting was arranged by its President Dr Murtaza Mughal while Shaikh Manzar Alam, Patron of the club presided over it and hosted lunch during the meeting.
In this meeting it was decided that WCC will arrange serious seminars and workshops to highlight different issues with the possible solution. Members of the club suggested different topics including basic issues of Karachi city. Murtaza Mughal has started to collect topics suggested by members and will finalize the same in the next meeting of the club. At the end of meeting Murtaza Mughal presented New Year gifts to all members of WCC from his United Insurance Company.



Badal Do

A new learning initiative, Badal Do, was launched by a consortium of seven organizations here in Karachi during the reported week.
The initiative will engage with hundreds of schools through their teachers from a cross section of the society and equip them with tools for inclusive learning.
In a presentation to introduce the initiative, the Badal Do team, paid tribute to luminaries like Late Prof. Anita Ghulam Ali, Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan, Dr. Hamida Khuhro, Mrs. Dina Mistry, Bishop Lobo, Sister Mary Emily, Ms. Gool Minwala, Fatima Surriya Bajiya, Professor Karrar Hussain, and others and explained that the initiative drew inspiration from these towering personalities.
Badal Do aims to take their vision and mission forward by piloting this initiative to foster plurality, inclusion, peace and tolerance in the society, and good civic sense.
The launch was attended by hundreds of school teachers who will act as change makers by taking the benefits to at least 10,000 students during the year-long programme.
The consortium partners answered questions about how by the use of experiential learning, interactive teaching methods using a mix of teacher training modules and, creative approaches, collaborative spaces and mediums of theatre, arts and music, they aspire to make involve everyone in the experience.
At the launch, Shallum Xavier, Khurram Iqbal and Alicia Dias performed the Badal Do Anthem and theatre group ZAHRSSS presented a motivational play.



Unique Fashion Walk

The leading shopping and Business Arcade of Karachi organised a unique Fashion walk  during the week at their food outlets floor of the Forum first time in the history of Pakistan when Super Models and Film Actresses performed with their own children enjoying the food of local and multinational brands. Top actresses Nadia Hussain, Sunita Marshall, Javeria Abbasi, Javeria  Saud participated with their kids. Film and TV Stars and Models Jia Ali, Sana Farukh, Manal Fiza, Saima Haroon, Hira Ejaz, Janita Asma, Asif Rehman, Asma and other models tasted the eastern & western food and various ice cream flavours. The regular visitors surprised to see their food street shining with glamerous world stars. The various food brands found on the Forum Food Street are The Waffle Craft, Chai Shai, Baskin Robbins, Mirchiy, The Burger Shack, Ghaffar Kabab House and Lunch Box. The Management of Forum and Ebco Super Store played their leading role in organising this event and distributed the gift hampers among all participants.



Rotary Club Karachi South hosts dinner


Rotary Club Karachi South dinner was hosted during the reported week at Mundia residence in the honour of Abdul Basit MI Mundia being elected as the President.
Mundia is a prominent businessman and a well known social activist. In his address at the dinner he appreciated all the Rotarians for conducting praiseworthy ventures throughout the province improve the wellbeing of the locals.
He urged the people to come forward with new ideas and knowledge and join hands with the Rotary International to serve the nation and be part of our service.
