Pak-China coop to become source of progress for entire region: PM Nawaz





ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said Pakistan's cooperation with China will not only bring prosperity to both countries but will also become a source of progress for the entire region.
According to a statement, the PM was talking to Gao Hongwei, Chairman of Board, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) and Zhao Xiaolong, Chairman of Board, China Precision Machinery Import-Export Corporation (CPMIEC) who met him in Islamabad.
While warmly welcoming both the Chairmen to Pakistan, the Prime Minister stated that, "China-Pakistan friendship is witnessing new heights, which is manifested by China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and cooperation in vital economic sectors." 
The PM stated that, "The strategic location of Pakistan makes it Asia's premier trade, energy and transport corridor."
The PM said, "Our government, from day one, focused on reviving the economy, resolving the energy crisis, improving security situation, and providing ample opportunities to investors." 
The PM informed that, "The economic outlook of Pakistan has altogether changed in the last four years, which is being acknowledged globally." 
The PM emphasized that, "Pakistan's Investment Policy provides a comprehensive framework for creating conducive business environment for the attraction of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)." 
"Pakistan's policy trends have been consistent, with liberalization, de-regulation, privatization, and facilitation being its foremost cornerstones," added the PM.
The PM invited both the Chairmen to take advantage of investment opportunities as Pakistan offers liberal investment climate with no restriction on remitting profits and dividends. 
Gao Hongwei, Chairman of Board, CASIC and Zhao Xiaolong, Chairman of Board, CPMIEC thanked the Prime Minister for his warm welcome and expressed the resolve to develop business ties with Pakistan. The PM was also informed that the companies are already in contact with relevant authorities. 
Rana Tanvir Hussain, Minister for Science and Technology, Sun Weidong, Ambassador of China and other senior officials were also present during the meeting. - NNI
