(1) A Farewell Dinner in honour of Dr Mu Yongpeng
Executive Editor The Financial Daily hosted an exclusive dinner in honour of Dr Mu Yongpeng, Deputy Consul General Chinese Consulate, Karachi who is leaving Pakistan to join his new assignment in European Union at a local hotel Saturday during the reported week. Tao Ran, Ran Ran and other envoys of Chinese Consulate Karachi were also present to grace the occasion.
Dr Mu remained most popular Chinese Envoy at Karachi due to his hard working, friendly, sincere and cooperative nature. He served at Karachi for around three years and six months. During his tenure he served a lot to promote bilateral and economic relations between the two countries.
Sharing his experience in Karachi, during the dinner, Mu Yongpeng said that he found Pakistanis nice, loving and sincere nation. He said he feel himself a Pakistani and will love to come again to Pakistan.
Dr Mu said new generation of Pakistan is very much talented and he hoped that the new sincere and excellent leadership with the nation will be emerging from youth which will be taking Pakistan to new heights.
Yongpeng also added that Ambassador of China Sun Weidong and new Consul General at Karachi Consulate, Wang Yu also love Pakistan and wanted to improve Sino-Pakistan economic ties and bilateral relations further. CPEC is one of the examples that our sincere relations have reached on the next level, he added.
He also thanked The Financial Daily and its staff for continued support and cooperation with Chinese envoys for promoting Sino-Pakistan friendship.
Mariam Naqvi presented bouquet to Dr Mu to acknowledge his sincere services during his tenure for promoting relations among the two counties. Abbas and Shabbar also thanked the envoys and shared the experiences of their recent visit to China arranged by the Karachi Consulate.
(2) AMTF is committed to Thalassemia-Free Pakistan
AMTF completes five successful years of its Exclusive ICU for Thalassemia Children where the services are rendered without any cash counter. AMTF celebrated 5th anniversary of the ICU services donated by Japan.
His Excellency Toshikazu Isomura, Consul General, Consulate General of Japan, Karachi graced the occasion as a chief guest and delivered his address in Urdu language. He appreciated AMTF voluntary services for Thalassemia-Free Pakistan.
Dr Asim Qidwai, Founder & CEO AMTF in his brief presentation informed about AMTF expansion phase comprises of development of a new laboratory, daycare and blood bank. He said that aim is to cater more patients with sustainability in the quality. He said their team working hard to provide 24 hour services to the patients. They are thankful to the donors, volunteers & supporters for having the confidence on AMTF, he added.
Ateeq Ur Rehmanm Advisor AMTF in his address on this occasion said that AMTF is committed to Thalassemia-Free Pakistan and requested philanthropists for wholehearted participation and support in their journey of saving lives.
President AMTF, Shaikh Zaki Ahmed in his Vote of Thanks appreciated cooperation extended by Japanese Government and highlighted free services of AMTF.
Talking with The Financial Daily after the ceremony, Ateeq said: "It's not a joke, Japanese Government donated equipment 5 years back, and since then we are incurring each and every penny for the operation of 5-bedded state of the art ICU for Thalassemia Children which runs into millions of rupees which comes through the help of philanthropist, donors and corporate sector. He said AMTF needs help from media to make "Pakistan a Thalassemia-Free Country".
(3) Monthly Atraaf presents Azmat Awards to women
Mahmood Sham, Senior most journalist of Pakistan on behalf of his Monthly magazine "Atraaf" organised "Atraaf Azmat Awards" for ladies in connection with International Women's Day during the reported week at a local hotel which was largely attended by all concerned and elite of the city.
Mahmood Sham in his opening address informed the audience about the basic objects for presenting awards that the encouragements of best performing women in different fields and to encourage new generation. On this occasion he said, "Atraaf" is his old age love.
Amina Sayid, Managing Director Oxford University, Seema Mughal Vice Chancellor Greenwich University, Senator Haseeb Khan and other speakers appreciated the initiative taken by Monthly "Atraaf". They also acknowledged women's contribution and their services in different fields.
Rakhshanda Mahmood daughter of Mahmood Sham conducted the whole ceremony very beautifully and decently.
